Mary Anne (Luckett) Riehl’s professional musical career began in Louisville, Kentucky where she initially sang with various dance orchestras. She then became staff vocalist at WHAS in Louisville, singing for two years on radio and television shows. She appeared on the Lawrence Welk TV show, and sang with Welk’s orchestra at the Aragon Ballroom in Los Angeles. For over five years she was the featured female vocalist on Don McNeill’s “Breakfast Club” on the ABC radio network, recorded before an audience and broadcast world-wide. The show frequently traveled to broadcast from various U.S. locations.

One special opportunity during her time with “Breakfast Club” was a three-week performing tour throughout Europe, sponsored by the U.S. government and Armed Forces Radio. Her career also included jingles and voice-over recordings, industrial trade shows, educational recordings, and slide film modeling.

As an adult, Mary Anne went back to school, acquiring a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University, and a Masters of Science degree in Human Services and Gerontology Counseling from National-Louis University, which lead to her position as Manager of Resident Services at a retirement community for nearly a decade. She discovered that having dual careers — a gerontologist working with older adults, and a singer experiencing the creativity of interpreting songs — added tremendous balance to her life.

Since 2001, she concentrated on her singing career with vigor, singing in jazz clubs and country clubs for private parties and grand opening events. On November 20, 2002, she launched a singing business called “Nightclub in the Afternoon,” a brand new entertainment venue for seniors. The first performance was at Pops Highwood, an elegant nightclub on the North Shore of Chicago. The luncheon/show events, held at various restaurants, ended in the Spring of 2006. Currently, her group is appearing at numerous venues throughout the Chicago area. Have music, will travel!

In February 2006, Mary Anne released her brand new CD recording entitled “Then and Now” which can be ordered through this website.

She is proudest of having raised three wonderful daughters.
